Community Church will observe All Saints Day on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. at 14000 Church Place.

Many people in the congregation have experienced tremendous loss and grief this past year. Those who are experiencing grief or a loss and need a place to help process that grief are encouraged to join church members for his week’s service of remembrance and celebration of life.

This is also the last Sunday of the Christian year. Next week, Community Church will begin the season of extended Advent. Advent is a time to explore the way the love of God comes and dwells among people.

Many people these days do not experience organized religion as “the way of love.” Those who have left organized religion or were never a part of organized religion but may identify as “spiritual but not religious” are encouraged to stop by the church on Thursdays at 10 a.m. for a cup of tea or coffee and a chat about spirituality. This isn’t a Bible study; it is an opportunity for people to share their stories with like-minded people in a judgment-free space. Pastor Johan Dodge used to gather people in a gastropub around the question: “What if church didn’t suck?” This is a judgment-

Pastor Johan Dodge -free space created for people to share their understanding of the Spirit, whatever that means to them. Community Church will hold these gatherings weekly through the season of Advent on Thursdays at 10 a.m. All are welcome.

The church often collects and redistributes food to local charities every month. When it receives donations that the other charities can’t use, it makes the items available to the Leisure World community. Recently, the church received a generous but limited donation of women’s disposable protective undergarments (size XL). Those who are in need of some can come by the church.

People can also join the Community Church Leisure World Facebook page to watch past sermons. Call 562-4312503 for more information.
