John Zimmerman scores hole-in-one on No. 9
LW MEN'S GOLF CLUB
The July 29 LW Men’s Golf Club tournament will be a shotgun scramble with a $10 entry fee and tee time at 8 a.m. Eight to 10 teams of five or six golfers will compete for low gross score. There will be a free barbecue picnic following the scramble, starting at 1 p.m. inside Clubhouse 2 and the picnic area outside. All women’s and men’s golf club members and their significant others are invited. The maximum number of players is limited to 54, so sign up for both events at the starter shack during Tuesday or Wednesday tournaments.
It was a sunny, dry morning that greeted 48 golfers of the club for the July 8 tournament at the Turtle Lake Golf Course. The golfers teed off at 7:30 a.m. with each man competing for best net scores, four circle holes and two closest to the pin challenges.
With good weather and excellent playing conditions, 17 of the 48 players scored net at or under par. There were 35 birdies and six circle hole winners. John Zimmerman scored a hole-in-one on the 118 yard par 3 ninth hole.
Closest to the pin on No. 1 was Brad Myers at 6 feet 8 inches, and on No. 10 it was Bob Barnum at 5 feet 4 inches. Average net score for the round was 57.4. Low net score for the round was club president Ron Steele at 8 under 46, followed by James Farr and Rod Osgood at 6 under 48. Low gross for the round was Bill Lyons and Trai Nguyen at 1 under 53.
A flight winners (handicaps of 0-4): Nguyen, first place; Kevin Childress, second; Thomas Kim and Bill Lyons, third; Fujio Norihiro, John Kolthoff, Mike Mayfield and Seung Lee, fourth.
B flight winners (handicaps of 5-12): Steele, first place; Dennis McMonigle and Roland Phillips, second; Sam Dokko, third; Myers, Hyon Shin, Art Salazar and Young Lee, fourth.
C flight winners (handicaps of 13-18): Farr and Osgood, first place; Walter Kim, second; Zimmerman, Jun Um and Darry Holten, third; Won H. Park, fourth; Reuban Garcia, fifth; Richard Yokomi, Noe Alcaraz and Jon Russell, sixth.

Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to scheduled tee time and be ready to play. Check bulletin boards for the tournament schedule if there are questions about starting times.
