Saigon Bistrot 12546 Valley View, Garden Grove Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; closed Mondays My favorite Asian restaurant is the Saigon Bistrot, a cozy family owned restaurant that seats maybe 30. It’s described as a Viet-Thai fusion cuisine, which I think is an accurate menu description.

It’s located at 12546 Valley View, in Garden Grove, behind a Shakey’s Pizza and across the street from what used to be the 99 Cent store.

The Saigon Bistrot menu has color pictures of many of their dishes. Seeing what the dishes look like helps you decide what to order. The Vietnamese dishes include 11 versions of pho, including a seafood pho with shrimp, scallops and calamari. All the pho dishes range from $15-$17. They also have Vietnamese banh sandwiches.

Their Thai Fusion dishes, which I’ve always found to be very good, include tom yum soup, pad see ew, pad Thai and curry dishes. They also have a variety of garlic rice and noodle dishes. If you like vegetarian dishes they have vegetable and tofu dishes.

They have a wide variety of appetizers and a Bistrot Sampler that would feed two or three. Also, they serve exotic beverages, such as Saigon iced coffee and Thai iced tea.

At each table there is a pull-out tray with forks, spoons and chopsticks. The service is friendly and the food is excellent. I go there regularly and recommend it.
