Meeting will feature watercolor demonstration
The Leisure World Art League’s meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4 will feature contemporary multimedia artist Ian Desberg, a professional toy and product designer living in Cliff May Rancho Estates in Long Beach. During the pandemic, Desberg challenged himself to draw and paint all 740 original, 1950s ranch homes in this unique neighborhood. The project thrives with over 600 works and is widely known to the community as “Cliff May Every Day.”
The Rancho continues to inspire Desberg to paint every nook and cranny of this amazing neighborhood as he posts images weekly on Instagram. He will display works from his project along with a live demonstration of his watercolor painting technique at the meeting.
The meeting also provides Leisure World artists with an opportunity to display their own work in a relaxed, un-juried show. Instead of judging the artwork by category, the group show will now feature a single award for most popular art piece, based on votes submitted by meeting attendees.
Those who want to display their art should bring their work to Clubhouse 4 by 5:30 p.m. Two-dimensional artwork must be framed, and 3D artwork will be provided with suitable display space.
