The story of the treasure in jars of clay will be the focus for LW Baptist’s worship service on Sunday, Aug. 3, in Clubhouse 4 at 10 a.m.

Pascal, the French philosopher, described mankind’s need of the gospel as a God-shaped vacuum in the human heart that only God can fill through his son Jesus Christ. The Bible pictures this relationship.

God, who said, “light shall shine out of darkness” is the one who has caused the light of the glory of Jesus Christ, who is the image of God, to shine into the believing heart.

Scripture compares the believer’s witness to the world as

LW BAPTIST, page 8 a frail clay lamp from which shines the light of the gospel, the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul claims this as his own experience. He says that Satan had blinded his eyes to the truth, so that he had become a violent aggressor, opposing Jesus Christ and the Christians. But now God had shined the gospel light into his own heart, transforming him also into a common clay lamp, beaming out the gospel light.
