Did you know that the Friends of the Library sells greeting cards at the incredibly low price of 25 cents? The supply and assortments of cards are amazing with cards for a huge number of occasions, especially birthday cards for him and her, children, grandchildren, husbands and wives and more. Some are funny, some religious, and most are loving. They are on sale at 10 for $1.
The store also has many beautiful “Thinking of You” cards and cards with blank insides for the writer to create personal sentiments for friends who may need a little lift in their day or just need to feel remembered. The blank cards are selling for 25 cents each or 15 for $1. These prices are for a limited time.
A few weeks back, a regular customer dropped $45 on the floor near the side of the desk. He left before the money was found but the volunteers on duty recognized the gentleman but didn’t know his name or where he lived as he forgot to sign in. Confident of his return, his money was safely set aside and finally on June 6, there he was and his money was returned to him. He was so grateful, he donated $5 to the bookstore.
This story is to let you know that volunteers are incredibly honest and conscientious workers. Over time, many people become familiar to the volunteers as “regulars.” Though volunteers may not always remember their names, all of their patronage is valuable. One of the rewards of volunteering is getting acquainted with so many of the wonderful and appreciative customers and donors, regulars or new. That, in and of itself, keeps the volunteers hard at work and loving what they do and knowing most will eventually return to the Bookstore. Some customers may even join this rewarding work as Friends of the Library volunteers themselves.
