Sung Kim, a Mutual 15 resident and former newspaper cartoonist, is extending his artistic talents to help residents of Leisure World memorialize their beloved pets. Now an artist and sculptor, Kim is offering to create free, palm-sized sculptures of pets for those who have recently lost a furry friend.

Residents interested in receiving a sculpture can request one by emailing a brief description of their pets, along with any special memories or stories, to 9009kss@gmail.com. To ensure the sculptures are accurate, people should also send three photos of the pet: one showing each side of the full body, plus a close-up of the pet’s face.

Due to time and material limitations, Kim is offering the sculptures to just 30 residents who send in stories and pictures. The sculptures, crafted from oven-bake clay and semi-permanent paint, are intended to serve as comforting keepsakes for those grieving the loss of their pets. For more information or to make a request, Leisure World residents can email 9009kss@gmail.com. Those with questions can also call 210-488-1425.
