The LW Democratic Club will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 22 in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. All LW Democrats and supporters are invited to attend in person or join the meeting via Zoom.
Attorney Jimmy Pham, a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, will be the keynote speaker. Pham, a Democrat, is one of four candidates running in a Feb. 25 special primary election to replace Janet Nguyen as LW’s representative in the California Senate. He will also address the possible ramifications of the incoming administration’s announced plans for mass deportations of migrants.
All Leisure World voters are reminded that the CA State Senate District 36 seat became vacant on Dec. 2 when Janet Nguyen resigned following her election to the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
The club’s hospitality and voter information booth, located in the parking lot outside Clubhouse 6, will again be open from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.
The club’s lunch bunch gathering, normally held on the first Wednesday of the month, was canceled for January because of the New Year’s Day holiday. These informal get-together sessions, designed to welcome new club members, will begin again on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Hof ’s Hut Restaurant & Bakery at 11:30 a.m. Advanced reservations are not required.
