SUNSHINE CLUB

Climate activist Ashley Craig will speak to the Sunshine Club on Friday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m., in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.

Craig is a lifelong climate activist and a self-proclaimed plastic bag. Craig spent her 30year professional career working for several big companies in finance and audit, with a brief stint in environmental policy. She serves on the board of Upstream Solutions and believes that reuse and the circular economy are two viable mitigations for the plastics and climate crises.

Craig is the founder of LB Reuses, a coalition with Algalita, LB Recycles, BYO Long Beach and Ethikli. When Craig isn’t worrying about plastic production, consumption and waste, she is registering people to vote, walking dogs, cuddling with kittens or raising money to spay/neuter dogs and cats.

During her presentation, “The Problems with Plastics,” Craig will explain why so much plastic is being produced now, why it is such a problem, and what people can do to make a difference and “turn off the tap.” Hint: reuse is a big part of the solution.

All residents are welcome to join this meeting. People are asked to arrive promptly, those who are late for the meeting, are asked to quietly use the back door so as not to disturb the presentation.

The Sunshine Club requires no membership fees, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
