First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

He is coming. His return is written of throughout the scriptures. The prophets foretold it. Jesus spoke of it. Peter and Paul wrote extensively on the subject. All the Gospel writers wrote about Jesus’ return after his resurrection from the dead and ascension to heaven. In Psalm 98, the writer wrote of Christ’s coming and describes how all of God’s creation should shout joyfully in anticipation of His return: “Let the rivers clap hands; let the hills be joyful together before the Lord.”

2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, but is patient toward all, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

Considering several warnings that his coming will be as a thief in the night, Peter offered this admonition. To “be on guard, grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Weekly Services

Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Sherry Parmenter at the piano. Gregory Black will do the special music this week.

Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The Bible study is on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.

Scripture of the Week

“For He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, and the peoples with equity,” Psalm 98:9.
