First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

The book of 1 John in the New Testament is an epistle written for a variety of reasons. John starts off in 1 John 1:3 by saying what the disciples have seen and heard they proclaim to fellow believers too, so that they may have fellowship with Jesus Christ and the heavenly father.

John knew Jesus his entire life as he was a cousin to Jesus. And early on in Jesus’ ministry, he called John to be one of his disciples. These facts are impactive because in John, Christians have a witness to all that Jesus did when he walked among men.

Like all the other disciples, John initially did not grasp that Jesus was the Son of God. But after several years of walking with him and seeing firsthand the many miracles Jesus did and the teachings John heard directly from Jesus, he became the disciple known as ‘the disciple whom Jesus loved.”

It is because of that love, John was led to share with others in this epistle, “That we love, because He first loved us,” 1 John 4:19, and “this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome,” 1 John 5:3.
