Tournament Poker Club to play July 18 in CH 6
Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, July 18, in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee, treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30 a.m. There is no late seating.
At the tournament on July 4, there were about 60 players excited to start their holiday weekend off with a good round of cards. High hand winners were Dennis Kotecki (4-4-4-4), Namil Shin (2-2-2-4) and Debbie Casper (A-A-A-5-5). There was no winner for the promo hand.
As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Katie Hamilton, first place; Kurt Bourhenne, second; Harry Sera, third; Barry Brideau, fourth; Namil Shin, fifth; Glenn Evenson, sixth; Joe Guglielmo, seventh; and Earick Ward, eighth.
Play continued at the final table until Hamilton and Bourhenne were head’s up. In the final hand of the match, Hamilton was holding king of clubs, queen of diamonds and Bourhenne had ace of spades and 9 of diamonds. With ace high, Bourhenne went all in before the flop and was called by Hamilton. The flop came 10 of hearts, king of hearts, 9 of clubs, giving Hamilton the lead with a pair of kings and a straight draw. The turn was a 5 of diamonds, and the river was a 7 of clubs, neither of which helped Bourhenne and gave Hamilton the win with her pair of kings.
Hamilton has lived in Leisure World for 22 years and has been a member of the Poker Club for 13 of those years. This was her fifth final table win. Besides poker, she is a member of the Garden Club and enjoys reading and watching TV.
The club congratulates all the winners. For more information, contact Deborah Barner at 325721-0687.
