New pharmacy operator coming; Medcare leaving

Medcare Medical Pharmacy will cease operations in Leisure World following a transition period to ensure uninterrupted access to pharmacy services. Taking its place is 986 Pharmacy, a Californiabased franchise with locations throughout the state.

986 Pharmacy will offer free prescription delivery, refill reminders, vaccines, medication management and multilingual services in English and Korean. 986 Pharmacy accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurances. It is a SCAN preferred pharmacy.

An opening date has not yet been announced. In the meantime, staff from 986 Pharmacy’s Garden Grove location are available to help residents transfer their prescriptions, and will be onsite during the transition.
