Art League Art League

Betsy Lohrer Hall will be the Art League demonstrator on Tuesday, June 13, in Clubhouse 4, at 7 p.m. She is a professor of art studies at California State University, Fullerton. Hall has taught studio art courses ranging from drawing to painting, life drawing and printmaking at colleges in Southern California, including El Camino College, Santiago Canyon College and Fullerton College. Hall earned her MFA in drawing and painting from California State University, Fullerton, and a BA in studio art with a concentration in painting from Colorado College. She studied in London, Florence and New York City. Hall was awarded a solo project at Los Angeles International Airport, an artist residency at the Huntington Beach Arts Center and a professional artist fellowship from the Arts Council of Long Beach.

Hall grew up in Southern California with family roots in New York and Boston. She has spent lots of time outdoors, walking by the ocean and exploring tide pools. She’s visited many of the great art museums on both coasts. While she feels a reverence for nature, she also lives near one of the largest ports in North America. The natural environment and the urban experience both influence her work. Art has been her lifetime work. People should arrive early to get a good seat.

The subject of the popular vote will be “water.” People should have their art pieces ready to be judged by 6:30 p.m. At the break, people will celebrate the 90th birthday of an Art League member with birthday cake.
