Club has disbanded, donated bank account to GAF
LW PRODUCERS CLUB
The Leisure World Producers Club has disbanded after years of providing entertainment in Leisure World and beyond. The club donated the amount in its bank account to the Golden Age Foundation (GAF), which greatly appreciated the contribution.
The club was originally formed to sponsor the appearances of the Long Beach Prime Time players, a senior citizens’ group of talented performers that entertained here and in area centers and nursing homes.
The Producers Club soon morphed into a performing group in its own right. For nine consecutive years, except for the one skipped on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, members wrote, produced and performed comedic murder mystery shows. Sometimes, they didn’t know who was having more fun, those watching or those participating. Through those years, club events drew loyal audiences.
The GAF gratefully accepted the club’s hard-earned funds.
The Golden Age Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization formed in 1973. All GAF programs—mobility aids, taxes help, hospitality center, document shredding, Salvation Army donation pick-ups, event sponsorships and more—are provided free to Leisure World shareholders and entirely staffed by resident volunteers.
GAF’s major income source is through contributions from shareholders, either individually or through organizations.
