Theme of this year’s tree decorating contest is ‘A Musical Christmas’

RECREATION DEPARTMENT

It’s that time of year when the Recreation Department reaches out to all clubs to adopt a tree in one of the clubhouses to trim for GRF’s annual Christmas tree decorating contest.

This year’s theme is “A Musical Christmas,” where the clubs chosen to compete will deck out their tree to reflect a particular traditional or modern holiday carol or a classical work. The five trees are pre-lit and will be set up in the clubhouses in time to decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving. All trees must be finished by Dec. 2 at the latest.

Trees will be judged in the following categories: creativity, reflection of the contest theme, outstanding features, uniqueness of tree topper and uniqueness of tree skirt.

The following clubs have been selected to adopt a tree:

• Clubhouse 1: Community Karaoke

• Clubhouse 2: Let the Good Times Roll

• Clubhouse 3: American Legion Auxiliary

• Clubhouse 4: Hui O Hula Club

• Clubhouse 6: Gypsy Singers Gift cards will be awarded to all participants. The submissions will be judged by GRF directors, and prizes awarded in these categories: Judges’ Choice, Most Beautiful, Most Unique, Best Theme Execution and Most Effort.
