Celebrate Veterans Day with music and raffles in CH 2

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 327 invites all Leisure World residents and guests to come together in gratitude and community for a special Veterans Day Celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 9:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 2. The Auxiliary will welcome Rev. Murray D. Finck of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore Canterbury churches, who will serve as the keynote speaker and deliver a message regarding his participation with the veteran community.

The Auxiliary will host two local musical favorites, The Velvetones and The Good News Singers, to bring patriotic classics to life.

In addition to the ceremony, people will have several opportunities to support vital local veterans’ programs through a variety of fundraisers. Guests can browse a selection of jewelry available for purchase or buy tickets for a chance to win a handcrafted Americanism quilt in the event raffle.

Traditional red remembrance poppies will also be available for anyone who wants to wear this time-honored symbol of respect and appreciation.

All are welcome to join this morning of honor, music and fellowship. Arrive early, purchase raffle tickets and join neighbors in giving thanks to the brave men and women who have defended the nation’s freedom.

American Legion Auxiliary President Betty Lucero (l-r), Poppy Chair Phyllis Pearce, fi rst Vice President Dolorie Thurner and second Vice President Marlene Morris pose with a patriotic quilt that will be raffl ed at the event.
