Assembly of God

Leisure World Assembly of God meets Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby. On Nov. 8, Pastor Chuck Franco will preach a sermon titled “The Long View of Thanksgiving.”

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year. It reminds everyone of the blessings they enjoy, refocusing attitudes that might have strayed into ingratitude. A pitfall of a long stretch of living in abundance of blessing is complacency. One comes to take for granted ease of life, health and prosperity, and the one by whose hand those blessings come. Deuteronomy 8:7-17 encourages God’s people that they are entering a land flowing with milk and honey, among other wonderful benefits, concluding with a warning not to forget the God whose benefits they revel in. The caution given to the Israelites is just as appropriate today.

The Wednesday Bible study is held at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. The Bible study class currently in Leviticus, examining “The Truth About Purity.” These standards set by religious leaders for ritual purity were burdensome and tedious, illuminating how far the gap is between perfect God and sinful humankind. Pastor and teacher Dr. Praveen Darole explains in this week’s session the intention of the regulations regarding purity and Jesus’s role in God’s plan of reconciliation.
