Leisure World Assembly of God meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby. On Sunday, Sept. 13, Pastor Chuck Franco will deliver a message titled “Are You Good Enough?”
Which is harder to achieve and maintain, an accurate perception of one’s self-worth, or appropriate humility? The parable Jesus teaches in Luke 18:9-14 focuses on a pharisee, who by tradition and cultural standards was holy and just, and a tax collector, who by those same standards was considered barely worthy of existence, as they stood praying in the temple. The lesson reflects the importance of the attitude of the heart, as opposed to the outward appearance of righteousness.
The Wednesday Bible study meets at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. It will continue in the series by Dr. Nicole Martin in the book of Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 34:1-39:18, “The Fall of Jerusalem.” After ignoring repeated warnings and opportunities to repent, the people experience the fall of Jerusalem. In these chapters though there is the pattern of desolation and consolation. God lifts his hand of protection from his beloved people, but offers reconciliation.
