Velvetones perform Sunday, Sept. 6

GRF WEEKEND DANCES

The September schedule of GRF sponsored dances is as follows:

• Ballroom dance on Sunday, Sept. 6 and Sept. 20: The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra is Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing big band swing and jazz standards. They are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 6, and again on Sept. 20 from 6-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. Doors open at 5:30.

• Classic rock on Saturday, Sept. 12: Vinyl Rock, GRF’s classic rock band, will perform Saturday, Sept. 12, in Clubhouse 4 at 6:309 p.m. All are welcome but guests must be accompanied by the resident who invites them.

• Country rock on Saturday, Sept. 26: Abilene is Leisure World’s No. 1 country rock band going strong for 22 years. The band features Lee Offenhauer on guitar and vocals; Jim Greer, drums; Vickie Van Ert, vocals; Greg Johnson, keyboards, vocals; and Bob McAlister, bass, vocals. They’ll perform Saturday, Sept. 26, in Clubhouse 2. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music goes till 9.

GRF will be adding two weekend night dances on the first and third Saturdays in Clubhouse 1 starting this October.

Residents and guests who attend dances should be sure to sign in. This is the only way GRF can judge the popularity of the community’s favorite bands and keep them coming back.
