Community Church

Leisure World Community Church makes a point of welcoming everyone who wants to be a part of its growing community of faith. Following the teachings of Jesus, the church intentionally extends that welcome to all, including LGBTQIA+ siblings, immigrants and women. The church believes the call of Jesus wasn’t to repent and believe but to go beyond and act. All are welcome at Community Church.

Community Church meets every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at 14000 Church Place. People can also watch weekly sermons on the Community Church Leisure World Facebook page.

This Sunday, Sept. 6, the season of creation will begin, and while the official theme for the season of creation is “Living Water” this year, the church will be grounded in the first creation story from Genesis.

There are two creation stories in Genesis that are very different in how they describe the creation of the world. The people of Community Church are grounded in science and rational thought as much as they are the Scriptures. It doesn’t take the story of creation literally and encourages congregants to not take it literally either.

The church’s Blessing of the Animals will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 9:30 a.m. People are responsible for the care and behavior of the animals they bring, and can also bring a photo of the pet if it’s more convenient.
