Leisure World Assembly of God meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby. On Sunday, Sept. 6, Pastor Chuck Franco will teach on the parable of the persistent widow, found in Luke 18:1-8, which is also referred to as the parable of the crooked judge. The judge admitted to himself that he did not fear God or care about people, but the widow’s continual pleas for justice finally forced him to act, just to get peace for himself and freedom from her constant requests. Jesus is teaching those who trust God to be persistent, to call out to God repeatedly. Unlike the judge in the story, God does care for people, and he will be quick to render justice to those who cry out to him.

The Wednesday Bible study meets at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. It will continue in the series by Dr. Nicole Martin in the book of Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 30:1-33:26. After the warning of the beginning of the end and false hope versus true hope, God finally gives Jeremiah a positive message to deliver: a promise of restoration. The remnant in Jerusalem and Judah probably had a tough time believing good things were ahead, but the prophet was delivering a message from a faithful God, who would never completely turn his back on his chosen people.
