South Coast Orchid Society

South Coast Orchid Society will present a program on orchid pest management on July 27 at 7 p.m. at the Whaley Park Community Center, 5620 E Atherton St. in Long Beach.

Doug Overstreet, a horticulturist in charge of two major orchid collections, has faced the challenges of safeguarding valuable plants from assaults by all sorts of pests. The focus of his program is an integrated pest management approach people can use to care for their own orchids.

All meeting also feature an orchid show. The South Coast Orchid Society’s monthly events are free and open to the public.
