Pastor Chuck Franco returns to his series on the parables with a sermon titled “No Figs,” from Luke 13:6-9 on Sunday, July 19.

Gardeners face disappointment from time to time when something they have planted and cared for doesn’t produce. Some gardeners will pluck the plant up, throw it away and move on. Others are patient and give the plant more chances to meet expectations and produce a crop. This relates to believers, as God’s planting, and what should be the results of claiming one belongs to God. There should be evidence of that relationship and the effect it has on one’s life.

Students in the Wednesday Bible study look at “Jeremiah,” by Dr. Natalie Martin. Jeremiah is often called the reluctant but faithful prophet, or weeping prophet. He is tasked with warning Israel about the consequences of their repeated disobedience and rebellion, while revealing God’s compassion and grace to them.
