Annual picnic is Saturday, Aug. 8

SHUFFLEBOARD CLUB

The Shuffleboard Club’s annual picnic will be on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 5-7 p.m. Annual dues of $5 are payable at the picnic. Sign up for side dishes to bring and come for fun, camaraderie, good food and the 50/50 opportunity drawing. Sign-up sheets are in the courts building.

Shuffleboard open play is Mondays from 9-11 a.m. and Tuesdays 6-8 p.m.

Roger Bennett, a prominent member of the club, relocated to Leisure World in 1997 with his wife. Prior to the move, he and his father established Paramount Camera in Downey, California, from 1964-2000. During this period, Bennett served as a guest lecturer and instructor for the Downey and Anaheim school districts.

Bennett has participated in various clubs within Leisure World. Notably, he has held the position of president of Mutual 7 for the past five years and has also been a member of the board of directors.

As the club’s photographer, Bennett has captured some amusing and remarkable photographs over the years. These photographs are proudly displayed on the bulletin boards in the courts building and shared on the Team Reach app.
