Summer work scheduled for shuf. eboard building

SHUFFLEBOARD CLUB

Ask many folks in Leisure World where the shuffleboard courts are located and they might not be too sure. Tucked away behind Clubhouse 1 and on the way to the condominiums, the courts are somewhat hidden away on Burning Tree Lane, which is not exactly a thoroughfare.

There is a large flag flying outside the building that says “Shuffleboard” that helps to identify the courts building, but no official GRF signage. That will be rectified this summer at the request of Shuffleboard Club members, with an official sign identifying the building as the location to play shuffleboard.

In addition, the Service Maintenance Department is scheduled to repaint the red lines that separate the six lanes and repair some of the court cement and lighting. The Shuffleboard Club is grateful for the continued support of GRF.

The spring leagues officially ended when the Tuesday league played their last game of the season on June 9. The club board wants to remind members that arrangements have been made to have additional open play opportunities on Tuesday evenings during July, in addition to the regular Monday morning open plays that will occur all summer long.

Tuesday, June 2 league results: Team Sue and Team Sally evened scores out 6-6 and Team Lynne snuck by Team Bob 7-5. All game winners were Lynn Baidack, Minda and Sue Burkschab, Sandy Derouin, Rita Filohoski, Sally Fowler and Sue Gary.

Friday, June 5 league results: Team Rod took Team Patti 7-5. Team Shel and Team Susan tied scores at 6-6. All game winners were Randi Allen, Rita Filohoski, Anita Giroud, Patti Nemnich and Rod Osgood.

Tuesday, June 9 league results: Team Bob beat Team Sally 7-5. All game winners were Sally Fowler, Devon James, Sue McKaig and Heather Moore. Team Kathy outshined Team Bob 8-4. All game winners were Anne Calvo, Lynne Haines and Connie Terry.
