Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, June 6, in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month and start at 10 a.m. with registration. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

In June, there will only be two regular tournaments—on June 6 and 13. There will be no poker on June 20 due to the GRF swap meet being held in the Clubhouse 6 parking lot.

On May 16, the club had a great turnout, with 72 players making for exciting play and a great game. High hand winners were Mystery Player (four of a kind), Gary Snow and Guta Basner (A-A-A-J-J), and Patricia Hallock (A-A-A-3-3). Joe Guglielmo won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 9-5.

As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Susan Dodson, first place; Sunshine Daye, second; Gary Fiorelli, third; Jess Pringle, fourth; Eileen Kotecki, fifth; Cleo Looney, sixth; Guta Basner, seventh; Renato Villanueva, eighth; and Terry Watson, ninth. Play continued at the final table until Dodson and Daye were head’s up. Both players joined the club last week. In Dodson’s case, she rejoined the club after a long absence. Because the final hands were so close, both players decided to split the pot evenly.

Dodson has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the club for 20 years. She has been a club officer and a dealer during that time. She has won 15 final tables. Dodson plays poker 3-4 times a week, and she also enjoys billiards, cribbage and pickleball here in Leisure World. She also loves cooking, baking and reading. The club congratulates the winners.
