Shuf. eboard Club Ham Shoot was hot in more ways than one

About 30 Shuffleboard Club members gathered in the court building May 20 to participate in the annual Ham Shoot, taking turns playing two tournament rounds to determine the top three winners on the obstacle-studded course. The event is identical to the annual fall event called the Turkey Shoot, and is just as difficult each time it is played. This year’s added challenge was the weather. With temperatures suddenly in the 80s, the fans were blowing full blast and members were wiping their brows as they moved down the courts from one lane to the next. Despite the heat, a good time was had by all. The scores were high, the raffle prizes were homemade and delightful, and the refreshments were plentiful. Kudos were given to Sally Fowler for her herculean organizing efforts to set up player rotations and scorers for each person playing.

Tuesday, May 12 league results: Team Jesus and Team Sally evened their scores 6-6. Team Bob snuck by Team Sue 7-5. All-game winners were Sandy Bush, Minda Burkschab, Arleen Cullison, Rita Filohoski, Jesus Sosa, Connie Terry and Bert Thompson.

Friday, May 15 league results: Team Shel handily upset Team Susan 8-4 and Team Rod won over Team Patti 7-5. All-game winners were Lee Broadbent, Lynne Haines, Milly Larson, Rod Leebrick and Donna Perkins.
