Guys and Gals Tournament will be on June 17

The Guys and Gals golf tournament was played on a warm May 20 morning, with 29 teams of one man and one woman competing for best net scores, four circle holes, and two closest to the pin challenges. Each player hit a drive and decided on whose shot to use. Then each player alternated hitting the ball until it went into the hole.

With recent tree trimming and weed reduction efforts on some greens, the 1,680-yard par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Course was in excellent condition.

Closest to the pin for the men on the seventh hole was Steve Kang, and on the 16th it was Bill Lyons. For the women it was Linda Herman and Pam Krug. There were five circle holes and 48 birdies.

Net score equal gross score minus handicap.

A flight winners (team handicaps 0-6): Steve Walker and Susie Kim, first place; Dong On and Alison Kim, and Mike Mayfield and Nancy Tye, second; Bruce Bowles and Linda Herman, and Young and Hae Lee, third.

B flight winners (team handicaps of 7-10): Hyon Shin and Sang An, first place; Gene Archambault and Stella Yoon, and Joon Sup and Young Sil Yoon, second; Alan Sewell and Sue Sloan, third; Rod Osgood and Laura Garcia, fourth.

C flight winners (team handicaps of 11-18): Terry Thrift and Marilyn Hewitt, first place; Todd Chidester and Ann Tran, second; Kevin Lindstedt and Mary Ann Moore, third; Steve and Connie Kang, fourth.

The next Guys and Gals Tournament will be on June 17, and every third and fifth Wednesday if there is one.

The men’s tournament is played every second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
