Registration is open for June casino tournament

TOURNAMENT POKER CLUB

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, June 6, in Clubhouse 6. Regular tournaments are held on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air promptly at 10:30. There is no late seating.

It was a beautiful spring day on May 9 and the club had 60 players ready for the tournament, which began with recognition of Mother’s Day. High hand winners were Gary Snow (A-A-A-2-2), Nita Doyan (KK- K-A-A) and Eric Holdaway (Q-Q-Q-8-8). Jon Jones won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 10-4.

As the winners of their original table, the final table players were Eric Holdaway, first place; Beth Matheny, second; Doug Wolfe, third; Ric Enge, fourth; Jon Jones, fifth; Harold Morehead, sixth; Erika Greenwood, seventh; Mike Gass, eighth; and Terry Watson, ninth.

Holdaway has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the club for three years. He has made several final table appearances, but this was his first win. He is currently the President of the LW Orchestra, and a member of the Velvetones, where he plays the trumpet. He also enjoys playing pickleball and cycling.
