LW Men’s Golf League

The David L. Baker Executive Golf Course greeted 12 players of the LW Men’s Golf League on April 27.

Baker is a 4,000-yard par 62 level course and has numerous water hazards. The tee boxes were set to the tips, which are the longest and most difficult set of tee markers on a golf course. From this position, each hole is played at its maximum length. This generally increases scores and degree of difficulty. However, 11 of the 12 players shot net under par with several excellent scores. There were five birdies, one each by Clay Fisher, Seon Kim and Larry Hillhouse, and two by Sam Choi.

Closest to the pin on the 110-yard par 3 third hole was Seon Kim, and the 110-yard 15th hole was Chris Lankford. Hillhouse had fewest putts for the A flight, and Tom Ross had fewest in the B.

Net score equals gross minus handicap. A flight winners: Bruno Santillo, first place; Sam Choi and Fisher, second; Hillhouse, third; Goltra and Kim, fourth; Jae Choi, fifth; Lankford, sixth; Steve Earl, seventh; Dave LaCascia, eighth.

B flight winners: Ross and Won Park, first place. The league plays every Monday at four local courses, all within 15-20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.

There is a prize pool for each round that players are not obligated to enter. Those interested in playing can contact Gary Stivers at 714-313-3697 or Dave LaCascia at 801-674-5975.
