Paws, Claws, and Beaks

Pet lovers are invited to the June 8 monthly meeting of the Paws, Claws and Beaks Club. Pets are welcome.

The meeting will be a potluck scheduled for the Clubhouse 1 picnic area at noon. Those attending should call President Bonnie Kaplan at 714-930-5314 and let her know what they are bringing to the potluck.

The speaker for the meeting will be Dr. Steven Wasserman, RN, DC, CVCP. The topic will be “The Best Care for Your Best Friend.”

Dr. Wasserman will be demonstrating a full exam on a live pet and showing people the kinds of treatment that are available for pets.

One of the main chiropractic techniques Dr. Wasserman utilizes under the veterinarians is veterinary orthopedic manipulation (VOM), a technology that was developed in 1983 by W. Inman, DVM, that provides an alternative, non-surgical approach to spinal disorders and lameness.

Now, many disorders may be treated by VOM, a non-invasive, non-painful, and inexpensive healing alternative. It is a healing technology that locates areas of the animal’s nervous system that are blocked due to spinal subluxation. After a thorough consultation, Dr. Wasserman will evaluate peoples’ pets’ gait, do a chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological exam, and report back to the veterinarian, and a treatment plan initiated.

Dr. Wasserman completed his undergraduate in 1979 with honors at Cypress College in California and graduated with a registered nursing degree. After graduation, he worked for two years at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in emergency and critical care. Dr. Wasserman was accepted to Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (now the Southern California University of Health Sciences) in 1981 and received his bachelor of science and doctorate of chiropractic degrees. He graduated cum laude, dean’s list, and Delta Sigma Honorary Scholastic Society of the Healing Art. Dr. Wasserman has been in practice in Los Alamitos since 1985. He commonly treats acute and chronic chiropractic conditions and injuries. He is a California State Board licensed, a diplomat of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a certified X-ray supervisor and operator, and a certified veterinary chiropractitioner (CVCP). RSVP to Bonnie Kaplan at 714-930-5314.
