GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) will hold a Salvation Army donation service on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Amphitheater parking lot from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The program, dubbed “Salvation Saturdays,” brings Salvation Army donation trucks into Leisure World every other month, providing a convenient and cost-effective way for residents to donate unwanted items.

The Community Karaoke Club holds weekly karaoke nights on Wednesdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 1. Practice sessions are held Mondays in Clubhouse 6 from 1-3 p.m. The practice group is small and friendly, giving everyone a chance to experiment with new songs and build confidence. Hula O Hula offers Hawaiian dance lessons on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in the Clubhouse 6 upstairs Mirror Room, and Thursdays at 1 p.m. in the Optum Health Care Center conference room next to the pharmacy. Wear comfortable clothing to class practice. Dancing barefoot is preferred, but soft booties or socks are fine. Dancers are beginning to learn and review Christmas songs like “Mele Kalikimaka”

PHOTO ARTS CLUB The Photo Arts Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 8, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. Bring an iPhone/ Android smartphone and/ or camera. The assignment is to photograph leaves. People can also bring photos of their choice to be displayed

Tickets are available for a special evening with Al Jardine—founding member of The Beach Boys— and The Pet Sounds Band on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. DANCERS & MIXERS The Dancers and Mixers Dance Club’s next dance will be held Oct. 6 at Clubhouse 4 from 7-9 p.m. The live music is varied and optimized for easy dancing, all provided by LW’s own Linda Herman, an accordionist with 56 years of professional experience— she’s seen it all.
