Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Fridays from 9-10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. For support on a weight-loss journey, women are welcome to stop by at 8:15 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.

On June 19, members learned that the club lost an impressive 29 pounds for the week. The biggest loser was Darleen Gardner with a 3.5-pound loss. She controlled her portions and made a conscious effort to eat healthier.

Henrietta Peavy shared valuable tips onhowto be more mindful to lose weight. Peavy suggestedfocusing on mind-body connection, staying motivated, and watching one’s salt intake. Mindful use of salt such as a pinch of it in a glass of hot water with lemon could curb one’s appetite, according to Peavy. When reaching plateau, she suggested to keep going and reach out for support from other Wa-Rite members. “Sometimes, a little encouragement is all it takes to keep going,” said Peavy.

The weekly food for thought was: “Success is built on the bridge between what you say and what you do.”
