First Christian Church
First Christian Church teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors.
People are welcome to worship and explore God’s word together “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Message From the Pastor
The apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Corinth describes the desperate condition he is living in as a result of preaching the Gospel in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 4. Paul is suffering from hunger and thirst, he is dressed in rags, homeless, and treated brutally while working as a laborer. And yet, Paul describes himself as a “fool for Christ.” In verse 12, Paul writes, “We endure being looked at as the scum of the earth.” Paul writes that it is not his intent to shame the believers in Corinth but to warn them against arrogance. Ultimately, in verse 16 he writes “be imitators of me.”
Paul finishes Chapter 4 writing, “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” How can Christians today live with that same power that Paul spoke of?
Pastor Gary Whitlatch will explore the why and how of biblically imitating the apostle Paul and how it results in receiving the power spoken of by him.
