Rock out with The Monkee Men
The Monkees Tribute Thursday, Aug. 6, 7:30 p.m. Amphitheater Stage Elite Season Sponsor: Gasper Monteer Realty Group Show Sponsor: Client Protection Group
In 1967, The Monkees outsold The Beatles and The Rolling Stones combined. Their television show won two Emmy Awards and the band produced five multi-platinum albums and six Billboard Top 10 singles. With the passing of three of the original Monkees, the only way to experience that great music live on stage has been through Micky Dolenz’ ongoing solo tours—until now.
The Monkee Men features:
• Frankee Mendonca as Davy Jones: Mendonca has been performing as Paul McCartney for several years. Bearing a resemblance to both the cute Beatle and Davy Jones, he was a natural to portray the late great teen idol. In addition to sounding eerily like Jones, he also plays the bass, guitar, drums and keyboards.
•DougCoutureasMikeNesmith: In his role as “Wool Hat,” Couture has not only perfected Nesmith’s southern vocal twang, but he has also copied the stylings of some of the greatest guitarists from The Wrecking Crew that were featured on the original Monkees recordings.
• Jonathon Fickes as Peter Tork: After watching The Beatles Anthology on TV at 10, he instantly became obsessed. Fickes is proficient on many instruments including guitar, bass, keyboards and banjo.
• Joshua Jones as Micky Dolenz: Jones was raised in a musical family and began playing drums in jazz bands at the age of 9.
Representatives from the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District will be at the show handing out DEET wipes and information on West Nile virus.
