I have been very pleased that the porches in Mutual 5 are being painted and carefully read the instructions on resident preparations.

I was told that I should have my porch prepared for pressure washing this week and enlisted my daughter and her husband who live in Irvine to help me move heavy stuff and prepare the porch as instructed.

They arrived this morning, and we started the process, including moving a heavy item into my living room. We were getting ready to move outdoor furniture onto the lawn when a member of the painting committee came up and told us the painting crews were being pulled off the project to work on the gates and would not return until next week. She had only been advised of that this morning. That was zero notice on a major change in plans which involved my family (who are not retired) taking the time out of their busy lives to help me prepare my porch to be painted. I was told I would be given one day notice of when they will resume plans to pressure wash, probably next week.

My neighbors, who are on vacation, had arranged for someone to move their porch furniture onto their lawn yesterday. Now it’s just sitting there. I am disappointed that the GRF had so little consideration for the time of their residents’ families. Fortunately, my daughter and her husband were very good natured about it. I can only hope the rest of the project goes as scheduled. Anne Daimler Mutual 5 Editor’s Note: The GRF understands how frustrating lastminute changes can be and tries to preclude them. In this case, the Mutual is in charge of the project, and the contractor oversees scheduling work crews. Editor: I have a confession to make. I may have contributed to the demise of our local pharmacy by not transferring my prescriptions over from CVS.

I thought my regular purchases of its hot food helped keep the pharmacy viable in the community.

But I think it takes filling prescriptions to actually keep them vital. I first dragged my feet on transferring my prescriptions until they became a preferred SCAN provider. But then I kept putting it off. Now I regret that and am going to transfer those prescriptions as soon as possible. I hope others will do the same because we really need a local pharmacy to succeed here.
