Assembly of God

Jesus is often pictured as a mild-mannered, traveling teacher, so it might be surprising to learn that one of his purposes was to turn the world as it was upside down. Pastor Church Franco’s sermon, titled “Jesus Came To Shake Things Up,” from Matthew 2:1-3:4 will observe this trait on Dec. 27.

Though Jesus came as a helpless infant, his birth was heralded by angels, celebrated by shepherds and scholars and marked by a guiding star. His childhood is largely missing in scripture, but the events that are there point to his exceptional character and wisdom. Upon beginning his ministry as an adult, the religious system and customs followed for centuries were challenged and overturned, as the New Covenant became a reality.
