Golden Age Foundation donates $124K for bus lifts
Leisure World residents with mobility challenges now have greater access to community transportation, thanks to a $124,000 donation from the Golden Age Foundation (GAF) that funded the installation of two new mechanized wheelchair lifts and the associated access equipment on GRF buses.
The donation continues a long-standing partnership between GAF and the Golden Rain Foundation’s Transportation Department. In 2014, the foundation contributed $130,000 to support the purchase of a handicap-accessible bus as part of a fleet upgrade.
The newly installed lifts are a vital resource, enabling residents who use wheelchairs or other similar mobility devices to board and travel on GRF buses with ease.
Residents can use the appointment-based GRF Access bus service to travel anywhere within Leisure World. To schedule a ride, call 562-472-1367 and request an Access Bus appointment.
