League resumes free workshops

LW ART LEAGUE

Following its summer recess, the Leisure World Art League will resume its monthly meetings on Sept. 9 with a mixed media workshop featuring renowned collagist Jennifer Gunlock. The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. in the Clubhouse 4 Lobby.

Gunlock’s work demonstrates a fascination with the collision of natural and built environments, and brings attention to Western civilization’s attempts to dominate and manipulate nature. Her work asks people to take a more mindful look at how they regard the natural world.

Workshop attendees will be provided with media, supplies and tools needed to create their own collage.

The League’s monthly gatherings instruct and inspire attendees with presentations and workshops hosted by professional Southern California artists. These unique sessions provide hands-on training in the use of new techniques and varied media in a casual, group setting.

Members wishing to enter the Sept. 9 art competition should submit their artwork by 5:30 p.m. All 2D artwork must be framed. This month’s competitive theme will be landscape. For more information, call Jim Greer at 714-902-9410 or email lwsb.artleague@gmail.com.
