Presidents’ Council Meeting Recap
THE PRESIDENTS’ COUNCIL Clubhouse 4 and Zoom Tele-Video Conference
The regular monthly meeting of the Presidents’ Council of Leisure World Seal Beach was convened at 1:30 p.m. by President Rich Carson on Wednesday, Aug. 6, in Clubhouse 4 and via Zoom tele-video conference.
The following is a recap:
• TheNominatingCommitteereceivedthefollowingnominations for the Officers of Presidents’ Council: President: Rich Carson, Mutual 12; Bruce Bowles, Mutual 15 Vice President: Teri Nugent, Mutual 2; Marsha Gerber, Mutual 4 Secretary: Cathy Gassman, Mutual 17 Mutual 12 president Rich Carson was elected by secret ballot to the office of President for Presidents’ Council for the 2025-2026 term of office.
Mutual 2 president Teri Nugent was elected by secret ballot to the office of Vice President for Presidents’ Council for the 20252026 term of office.
Mutual 17 president Cathy Gassman was elected to the office of Secretary for Presidents’ Council for the 2025-2026 term of office.
• Presidents’ Council meeting minutes of July 2 were approved as printed.
• GRFPresidentLindaHermaninformedthecouncilonthefollowing: the North and South gates are back to their regular operating hours starting Sept. 1; the search for the Executive Director position has begun; and the redacted invoice of the monthly general ledger is now available online for residents’ review. Herman also provided an update on ongoing GRF projects in Leisure World.
• City council member Nathan Steele provided information on water rates increase, Prop. 22, M2-18, and city taxes and fees.
• Physical Property Manager Kevin Black informed the Council that the GRF Member Resources Liaison new office renovations have been completed, and the Stock Transfer office remodeling is next. Black also provided an update on a pavement management plan, St. Andrews traffic light project, street signs replacements and restroom renovations.
• SeniorDirectorofMutualAdministrationJodiHopkinsprovided an update on the Stock Transfer and on Mutual Administration departments. Hopkins also discussed orientation and escrow forms, and notice to withdraw process, and provided the Council with an updated pet, caregiver and renter reports.
• TheInterimExecutiveDirectorDavePotterprovidedthecouncil with a legislative update on California Omnibus budget bill. He also provided an update on a protest letter regarding the Seal Beach water rates increase.
• The next Presidents’ Council meeting is on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 1:30 p.m., in Clubhouse 4 and via Zoom tele-video conference and YouTube Live.
