The LW Democratic Club will co-host a meeting with the Seniors for Peace Club today, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m., in Clubhouse 4 to hear from Chris Kluwe, who recently announced his candidacy for State Assembly District 72. Kluwe, who is running as a Democrat, is a social activist, a published author, a vocal advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, and a former NFL punter who grew up locally having attended Los Alamitos High and UCLA.
The club will hand out “Red Cards” at the meeting (the cards provide information in Spanish and English on how they can exercise their rights under the U.S. Constitution). These cards can be given to landscapers, housekeepers, construction workers or anyone that could be subject to being detained by ICE enforcement activities.
The next Voter Education meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 3. The club will watch the movie “Paper Clips” about how middle schoolers at a Christian school in a small Tennessee town collect 6
