Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal

On Sunday, Aug. 10, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost. The Rev. Murray D. Finck, will preside over the Holy Communion service at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. Sylvia Makus will be the acolyte for the month of August.

Fellowship will continue after service in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks.

The congregations continue to collect donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry. Everyone is invited to participate in this outreach. The collected food stays in Orange County and is distributed by Lutheran Social Services.

There will be a special congregational meeting on Sunday, Aug. 10, after the service to discuss specific use of the church facility.

There will be a new member reception in September. The congregations value the participation of everyone who participates in this faith community including guests, visitors, friends, and members.

The new member reception is for those who want to become members of either Redeemer Lutheran Church or St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church. Those who are interested should let Bishop Finck know at one of the upcoming services. There are forms on the tables in the back of the sanctuary that people can fill out.

Blessed to be Two Blessings, or “B2B2B,” is the title of the funding appeal that the churches are beginning to help offset the cost of the new HVAC system.

The church council approved a $15,000 goal for the B2B2B appeal. For those members and friends of the congregation that are able, the churches are asking that people would prayerfully consider offering an over-and-above gift to help cover the cost of the new heating and air-conditioning units. The churches will soon distribute a B2B2B brochure to further explain the fundraising appeal and an offering envelope for any over-and-above giving people willing to donate.

The funds raised within the congregation will be used for two blessings—primarily for the new HVAC system and a portion of what is given will support the newly formed Leisure World Cares Fund.

The Midweek Bible Study is held on Wednesdays in the Fellowship Hall from noon-1:15 p.m. Rev. Finck leads the discussion.
