LW Art League’s Artist Spotlight Reception: July 26
The Leisure World Art League will present the second of three 2025 Artist Spotlights featuring Mary Guymon on Saturday, July 26, in Clubhouse 4.
Mary Guymon was one of the featured artists in the League’s June 21 “Art in Bloom” exhibition and is well known throughout southern California for her semi-abstract landscape and floral paintings.
Guymon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from California State University, Dominguez Hills and her paintings have been featured in exhibitions, galleries and private collections throughout the state.
Working in oil, acrylic, enamel, and latex on canvas, Guymon draws her inspiration from the paintings of abstract expressionist Franz Kline.
In describing her upcoming Artist Spotlight, Guymon explained, “for this show I incorporated newspaper clippings from LW Weekly, as well as tissue paper and handmade art paper. I simply respond to what happens when I apply paint to the canvas. Color and texture define my work.”
Artist Spotlights offer Leisure World residents the chance to meet featured artists in person in an intimate, open house, reception-style setting in the lobby of Clubhouse 4. The free-to-all event begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26.
