Memorial Day event will be held in CH 2
AMERICAN LEGION
The American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit 327 will hold its annual Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 26, from 10-11 a.m. in Clubhouse 2. The Naval Sea Cadets will open with the posting of the colors.
Post Cmdr. Rich Carson will be the emcee and will highlight guest speaker Sgt. Matthew Twist from the Orange County Rescue Mission. Twist will speak about his military career and what the rescue mission has meant to him and his recovery. He is a graduate of the Mission’s “Back to Work” program,” a transitional housing and job training program that helps people facing homelessness achieve self sufficiency. Twist is now a case manager at the Tustin Veterans Outpost, which offers housing, work programs and a college program for veterans.
The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra will perform beginning at 9:30 a.m.
In closing, Thomas Schmitz will play “Taps.” American Legion Auxiliary women will have patriotic jewelry available for purchase.
All are welcome to attend. People who want to pay remembrance to prisoners of war and veterans missing in action (POW/MIA) can do so at the display near the stage.
