The LW Democratic Club’s next monthly Voter Education session will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 1 p.m. It will feature a presentation facilitated by board member Robert Cohen on how to research for reliable news reporting on the internet. The next club membership meeting will be on Wednesday, March 26, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. All LW Democrats and supporters are invited to arrive as early as 12:30 to socialize with other likeminded residents. Members can also join the meeting by Zoom.
The keynote speaker for the March 26 meeting will be Laura Oatman, the official representative for INDIVISIBLE in the 47th Congressional District. Long-term members will remember Oatman as the candidate who dropped out of the 2018 Democratic primary race in LW’s district in order to support fellow candidate Harley Rouda. Rouda went on to defeat Congressman Dana Rohrabacher in that year’s general election. Oatman then became the district director for Rouda.
In response to concerns expressed by both board and club members, the Democratic club now has two new task forces. Clubmemberswhohave recommendations for consideration by either the Membership Involvement or the Strategic Planning task force are invited to share them by emailing janebrittingham51@ gmail. com or mlarson.telfords@gmail.com.
Club members are also urged to contact their representatives in Congress with their concerns. Dave Min, the 47th District representative in the House of Representatives, has opened a district office located at 1370 Adams Ave. Suite A, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
