The LW Democratic Club membership meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2 at 1:30 p.m. People can arrive as early as 12:45 to have time to socialize before the meeting begins and enjoy coffee, water and individually wrapped snacks.

Betty Yee, one of two vicepresidents of the California Democratic Party, will be the keynote speaker and will present a speech titled “Where Do We Go From Here?”

The club has asked Yee and her husband, Rabbi Stephen Jacobs, to share their understanding concerning the possible impact of the 2024 election results. The club will also seek their advice as to the role members of local Democratic clubs such as LW’s might play during the next four years.

Yee is uniquely qualified to lead this discussion as she is also a member of the Democratic National Committee and is a candidate for election as California’s governor in 2026. She has a long history of involvement in California politics.

As former Gov. Gray Davis’ former budget director, Yee led the development of the state budget. As an elected member of the State Board of Equalization— the state’s tax appeals body—Yee helped make the tax code fairer for working families.

Rabbi Jacobs also has had a long and distinguished career as a tireless advocate for justice. In 2001, he was awarded the Walter Cronkite Faith and Freedom Award.

All LW Democrats and supporters are invited to attend the Dec. 4 meeting in person or by Zoom. For the Zoom login instructions, email lwsbdemocraticclub@ gmail.com.

The club’s Lunch Bunch gathering, normally held on the first Wednesday of the month, will resume on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Hof ’s Hut Restaurant & Bakery at 11:30 am.

The club’s hospitality and voter information booth, located in the parking lot outside Clubhouse 6, will be open from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, beginning Jan. 7.

To volunteer at the booth, email rlehmberg815@gmail.com or call 562-340-9816.
