Learn about year-round gardens on Jan. 20

The Garden Club will meet Monday, Jan. 20, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. The club will welcome back Rod Sims as the guest speaker. He will discuss “How To Achieve Year-round Interest In Your Garden.”

Sims has been a Leisure World resident for six years and currently serves as president of Mutual 10. His wide-ranging experience spans a lifetime. He has studied bonsai gardening with Frances Watari and Harry Hirao and learned western gardening principles from gold-medal winners from the Chelsea Flower Show.

The WE CARE table will be set up in the lobby for donations of non-perishable food items, gift cards and cash. Cash donations are particularly needed and appreciated right now.

Coffee, tea and cookies will be served after the meeting. All LW residents and their guests are welcome to attend.

The club would like to take this opportunity to clear up a misconception they’ve heard lately from some LW residents. The Garden Club has no connection with the LW Community Gardens, which is managed by the Recreation Department.
