Community Church

Community Church will end its series about the story of Creation from Genesis chapter 1 and begin Genesis chapter 2, when God rests on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 10 a.m. at 14000 Church Place.

God’s resting is an invitation for people to rest as well. For some people, the rest that is needed is from worry or stress; for others, it is from activity.

Resting helps people look at the activities they are doing and ask: “Is this mine to do? Or can someone else do it better?” Following Jesus involves doing what Jesus did, which also included resting.

Community Church is grounded in science and rational thought as much as it is in the Scriptures. When Jesus says, “repent and believe,” the congregation hears that as an invitation to go beyond and act. Those who have been hurt by the church are welcome to join.

The church often collects and redistributes food to local charities every month. When it receives donations that the other charities can’t use, it makes the items available to the Leisure World community. Recently, the church received a generous but limited donation of women’s disposable protective undergarments (size XL). Those who are in need of some can come by the church.

People can also join the Community Church Leisure World Facebook page to watch past sermons. Call 562-431-2503 for more information.
