LW Men’s Golf League

On Aug. 31, 11 members of the Leisure World Men’s Golf League challenged River View Golf Course in Santa Ana. With hot, sunny and clear skies, plus high humidity, expectations were that the expected additional heat would work as a detriment to the golfers, however exceptional scores were posted by more than half the golfers.

Seven of the 11 golfers scored at or below net par, and there were three birdies—two by Sam Choi, and one by Chris Lankford. The two closest to the pin challenges were won by Choi and Clay Fisher. Choi and Tom Ross had fewest putts for the round. Choi had the league trifecta—low net score of 59 (11 under par), fewest putts and a closest to the pin.

A flight winners (handicaps of 1-19): Choi, first place; Fisher, second; Lankford, third; Kyle Van and Bruno Santillo, fourth; Larry Hillhouse, Gary Stivers, Fujio Norihiro and Dave LaCascia, fifth.

B flight winners (handicaps of 20 and higher): Ross, first place; Mike Jimenez, second.

The league plays every Monday at four local courses, all within 15-20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.
